Laboratory Music #3 consisted of 15 duo improvisations and 3 trio improvisations. The improv partners were chosen by chance, by drawing names from a beer pitcher. The improvisations were limited to nine minutes. Each improviser was given a small Behringer mini mixer and a Marshall MG10 amplifier, or they could play acoustically.
