More videos are also at www.youtube.com/UDTVproductions About AZMYTH: Early years and formation (2003--2008) The band began as an idea of brothers Tim W. Downey Jr., and Tyler Downey, in Atlanta, Georgia. They quickly joined forces with fellow Florida native Brook Chavous. The band was originally called Azimuth with Chavous in the band. This version of the band played few shows, but became quite notable in the Atlanta scene. In 2005 the brothers relocated to their hometown of Ocala, Florida, where they went on a brief hiatus and formed other bands, before bringing back Azimuth once again in 2007. This lineup of the band included guitarist Zach Thomasson, and bassist Jon Feagan. They then decided to change the spelling of the band name from Azimuth, to Azmyth, due to the newspapers, and fans being unable to pronounce and spell their name correctly. In 2008, the band headlined the Six Flags Over Georgia Live and Local series of concerts with fellow up and coming act Friends For Hire. In October 2010, the band taped a live TV interview, and performance on Gainesville, Florida's FOX channel, for their UDTV (Underground Downtown) show. When asked about the sound of the band Downey answered, "I would say that we are a new breed of rock n roll, that has soul and roots of rock and roll that was around thirty years ago". The musical style of Azmyth is a mixture of hard rock, blues-rock, grunge rock, heavy metal and rock n roll. Their writing style usually consists of simple rhythm guitar riffs, a heavy drum sound, and raw, loud vocals. The band has been noted on several occasions that they were influenced by such bands as Aerosmith, Soundgarden, Supertramp, Guns N' Roses, Of Mice & Men (band), and Van Halen. Tim W. Downey Jr. described the band's sound via their official Facebook as a cross between Nirvana, and Guns N' Roses. Current members Tim W.
