Girls On Fire at Apartment Music 34

GIRLS ON FIRE (Leslie Singer) at Apartment Music 34, Saturday, June 29, 2019. The first performance of the 34th edition of Apartment Music, a long-running series (since July 2008) of concerts and sessions of experimental and electronic music, improvisation and noise in Hal McGee's apartment in Gainesville, Florida. Recorded in HD, 1080p at 60 fps, with iPhone XR. Leslie Singer's annotations: I performed a 2019 realization of a song I originally recorded back in 1983 under the moniker of Sadistic Gossip, entitled "Dead Poets Don’t Shave Their Heads". The song is about the Soviet poet, Vladimir Mayakovsky. This new version includes a reading of a page from Sleeping on the Wing: An Anthology of Modern Poetry with Essays on Reading and Writing by Kenneth Koch and Kate Farrell. I also performed a version of the Teenage Jesus and the Jerks classic, "The Closet". Behind me on the monitor is playing a film adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Pit and the Pendulum, starring the legendary Vincent Price.
