Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how the site identified above, running on the ShowSpace platform, handles information when you browse the live music archive, use an account or contribute material. It also covers our use of YouTube API Services and embedded video players.
Information we collect
- Account information: information you provide when signing in or managing your profile, such as your email address, username, display name and profile details. If you choose Google sign-in where offered, we receive the identity information needed to authenticate you; this does not grant access to your YouTube account.
- Contributions and correspondence: submitted event details, comments, corrections, flyers, photos, video links, credits and messages, together with the information needed to review them and record their source and edit history.
- Technical information: IP addresses, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, errors and security logs. Site analytics may record page visits, referral sources and interactions.
- Public archive information: publicly available facts, source references and media metadata used to document live music history, including information obtained from YouTube as described below.
How we use and share information
We use information to operate accounts and the archive, review and attribute contributions, research and match historical events, respond to requests, prevent abuse and improve reliability. Submitted material, public profile details, contributor attribution and edit history may appear publicly according to the feature and its visibility settings. Do not include private information in material intended for publication.
Authorized editors and service providers may process information as needed for hosting, storage, search, email delivery, security, analytics, payments where offered, and automated extraction or research assistance. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to investigate abuse and protect the service or others. External links and embedded content are governed by their providers' policies.
YouTube API Services and embedded videos
We use YouTube API Services to discover and retrieve public video information, including video IDs, titles, descriptions, thumbnails, channel information, publication dates, durations and available statistics. We use this information to identify recordings of specific live music events and display related video links and embedded players. Relevant metadata and research references may be stored with archive records and reviewed by editors.
Our YouTube research uses public data accessed with our server-side API credentials. We do not request authorization to read private YouTube account data or to upload, edit or delete content in your YouTube account. We do not ask for your YouTube password.
YouTube supplies the embedded player and may collect information from your device when it loads or you interact with it, including your IP address, browser information, cookies and playback activity. YouTube may also serve advertisements. Its handling of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Use of YouTube features is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service.
You can request review or removal of YouTube-related information stored by us through the contact details below. Removing a link or metadata from our archive does not delete the original video from YouTube. You can manage permissions for Google-connected apps in your Google account security settings; our public-video research does not require a YouTube account connection.
Cookies, browser storage and other providers
We use cookies and similar browser storage for authentication, security and preferences such as display settings and recent searches. Depending on the site's configuration, analytics services such as Google Analytics or Plausible may process usage information. Embedded YouTube or Vimeo players and other external content may use their own cookies or similar technologies. You can clear site data or restrict cookies using your browser settings; some features may then stop working.
Retention, deletion and your choices
We keep information for the purposes described in this policy, including operating accounts, preserving documented archive contributions, handling disputes, security and legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of information and the reason it is held.
To request access, correction, account deletion or deletion of personal information we hold, contact us. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We review requests and explain any information that must be retained for legal, security or legitimate archival reasons. Deleting an account does not automatically remove independently documented historical facts or every public contribution; you can identify specific material you want reviewed. Backups may retain information until they expire through normal backup rotation.
Browser preferences can be removed by clearing this site's browser storage. Requests to delete information held independently by Google, YouTube or other providers should also be directed to those providers.
Security and policy updates
We use access controls and other safeguards to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. This policy may be updated as the service changes; the date above identifies the latest revision. See our Terms of Service for the rules governing use of the archive.

Contact the ShowSpace.org team at [email protected] with privacy questions, requests to access, correct or delete your personal information, or concerns about archive content.
